H.E. Mr. Song Tao, Chinese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.R.H. Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Bruneian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Jointly Attend the Day of Brunei Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo

 On May 8, 2010, the day of Brunei Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo was held grandly in the Expo center. More than 500 people from China and Brunei, including Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao, Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Princess and Brunei's Ambassador to China Magdalene Teo, participated in the event.

Song delivered a warm speech, noting that China and Brunei are friendly neighbors across the sea and the friendly exchanges between the two peoples have extended over a thousand years. The bilateral relations have grown rapidly and cooperation in various fields achieved fruitful results since the two countries established diplomatic ties 19 years ago. China-Brunei relations have entered into a new stage of all-round development. Next year marks the 20th anniversary of China-Brunei diplomatic ties. China is willing to make joint efforts with Brunei to raise the bilateral good-neighborly friendship and cooperation to a new level. Song expressed admiration on the wonderful display of Brunei in the World Expo and said that the Brunei Pavilion which is full of rich Southeast Asian flavor comprehensively demonstrates Brunei's colorful style and vividly reflects its desire of developing the economy and improving people's life. He expressed confidence that the Shanghai World Expo will provide new opportunities for both countries to deepen their pragmatic cooperation and increase the mutual understanding between their people.

   

Prince Mohamed extended warm congratulations on the opening of Shanghai World Expo and best wishes for its success and thanked the Chinese side for supporting and helping Brunei participate in the Expo. He said that the two countries enjoy a long history of friendly relations. Brunei hopes further strengthen the bilateral relations with China and enhance the traditional friendship between the two peoples by participating in the World Expo.
