Preliminary analysis on cases of Influenza A H1N1 by the Ministry of Health have found that approximately 40 percent of cases started to show symptoms of the disease within 3 days of infection and more than 80 percent having 2 or more symptoms. In view of the current situation in the country and the high infectivity of Influenza A (H1N1), it is expected that the infection will continue to be detected in the country for some time.
Those who have been confirmed with Influenza A H1N1 will be given treatment as soon as possible and their close contacts will also be given treatment to prevent the infection. Although the vaccine to prevent Influenza A H1N1 infection is still not available, the current anti-virals have been proven effective to treat and prevent the infection, especially if early treatment is given. The Ministry of Health will continue to ensure sufficient supply of medications for the infection is available. IN COURTESY OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM |
