BEBD to Upgrade Sg. Liang's Infrastructure
2009-02-05

The BEDB (Brunei Economic Development Board) yesterday announced that it plans to implement long-term solutions to the infrastructure needs of Sungai Liang.
"What is important is to implement solutions that will work not just at this time but in the longer term. Good infrastructure that is lasting is part of our commitment to the people of Mukim Liang," said Dr Hj Manaf Metussin, the Assistant CEO and Head of the BEDB's Stakeholder Relations Division.

According to the Infrastructure Development Division of the BEDB, the first step is to ensure that the infrastructure is properly designed and implemented.

With this in mind, BEDB has invited tenders from locally based consultants to study the drainage conditions at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK) and its vicinity and propose long-term solutions.

"Besides drainage, we are also actively looking for other ways to improve the infrastructure for the people who live in the Sungai Liang area.

"Our planned projects range from basic infrastructure, such as roads and lighting, to facilities for the community like sport facilities and a discovery centre at the Sungai Liang Zone Village," said Mr Aziz Latip, the CEO of the Sungai Liang Authority.
