| Chinese food lovers have a rare opportunity to sample some of the most popular dishes originating from the Fujian province in China at the RBC Emperor's Court following the launching of the Fujian Food Festival, yesterday afternoon.
To specially prepare the authentic taste of Fuzhou, two Fujian master chefs from the Lujiang Hotel were flown to Brunei Darussalam to prepare the delicacies.
The festival, which will be held until March 16, was officially launched by Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Abu Bakar bin Pengiran Seri Indera Pengiran Haji Ismail, the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office in his capacity as the chairman of Royal Brunei Catering.
Haji Omar Ali bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Acting General Manager of RBC in his welcoming address said that Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd has been active in promoting a variety of world cuisines for the last few years.
"In 2006, RBC has been successful with the Shanghai food promotion. This year, we have chosen Fujian food to share with our customers. Our promotion this year has been greatly supported by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and Lujiang Hotel, who have sent two Master Chefs to assist RBC to prepare the cuisine," he said.
The acting general manager also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy, RBA, Standard Chartered Bank and Lujiang Hotel for their support.
Also present at the launching ceremony were Madam Tong Xiaoling, the Chinese Ambassador, Pehin Bendahari Cina Dato Paduka Awang Onn Siew Siong, Lim Chai Hoon, the Acting President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Mr Lim Sooi Tiong, the Deputy Chairman of Brunei Hokkien Association and other invited guests.
King Prawn Baked with superior quality Oolong Tea leaves, Sea Cucumber Braised with Ginseng in Hong Shao Sauce Xiamen style, Rose Beef Roulades with shredded Lettuce, Abalone double boiled in superior chicken stock are some of the recommended dishes at the Fujian Food Festival.
In addition to the delicious food, customers can also enjoy the special Fujian 'Tea Making' ceremony and live performance of classical Chinese music every evening during the food festival.
During the promotion, dine-in customers are entitled to win the grand draw of two return air tickets to Shanghai on Royal Brunei Airlines and 10 consolation prizes.
All Standard Chartered Bank credit card members are entitled for two lucky draw chances per dining receipt. In addition, SCB card members are entitled to a special discount during the promotional period where platinum card holders will get a 30 per cent discount, gold card holders 10 per cent discount and five per cent off for classic card members.
For those who want to learn to cook Fujian cuisines, a Fujian cooking class will be held on March 14 at 9.45am at Emperor's Court. The two Fujian chefs will be conducting the class.
