| Many Chinese families and organisations yesterday continued to invite lion dancers to perform at their residences and at the entrances of their respective shops, as it is believed that the dances ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.
Yesterday, the lion dance troupe from the Hokkien Association of Brunei performed at the residence of Pehin Dato Paduka Onn Siew Siong in Kg Beribi.
Large crowds of people also witnessed a lion dance performance by the troupe from Chung Hwa Middle School at the First Emporium Supermarket's Seri branch in Jalan Tutong.
The troupe was welcomed by the director of the First Emporium Group, Mr KS Lim, and other senior staff members.
There are three lion dance troupes that are performing for this year's celebrations in the Brunei-Muara District - the BSB Chinese Chamber of Commerce's, Chung Hwa Middle School's and the Hokkien Association of Brunei's. |
