Beijing Dance Academy is visiting Brunei

As part of the celebration series to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Brunei Darussalam and the 15th anniversary of the dialogue relationship between China and ASEAN, the Dance Academy of Beijing is going to pay a visit to Brunei from 19th to 25th May. During its visit in Brunei, the Beijing Dance Academy will stage several performances, and its programs include folk dance, classical and modern dance of different cultures.

Nestled near the beautiful Purple Bamboo Garden in Beijing, the Beijing Dance Academy boasts to be the leading institute of higher learning of dance in China. Founded in 1954, the Academy offers curriculums that include performance, choreography and dance studies; as well as Master's Degrees and Bachelor's Degrees. There are some 500 teachers and administrative staff and 2000 students in the Academy.

The Academy has long earned the reputation for excellence in professional dance training and a cradle for students who aspire to a career in the dance profession.

Serving as a direct artistic cultural link, the Academy actively participates in friendly exchanges between China and other countries, including ASEAN. With great sincerity, the Academy looks forward to sharing with its audience and friends in Brunei the beauty of artistic wealth as well as historical and cultural attractiveness of China. The program includes:

Waist Dance, telling a famous Warring-State-Period story of over 2,000 years. Gold medal winner in the 2000 Taolibei Cup National Dance Competition.

Writing the Spirit, an inspiration from the inscriptions on bones in the 3,000-years-ago Shang Dynasty. Gold medal winner in the Classical Group of the 2005 National TV Dance Competition.

Singing While Treading, a representation of beauties singing and dancing along the green river bank. Gold metal winner in the 1st Lotus Cup National Dance Competition.

Boys from the Mountain, a romance between young ethnic Yi boys and their sweethearts. 1st Prize Choreographer Winner in the National Ethnic Minority Dance Competition.

Emperor Qin's Generals, an overlook of the grand and heroic battle-array in the Qin Dynasty over 2,000 years ago.

Military Drum Music, boast of the might and courage of the royal Han Dynasty with heart-stirring drum music.
