H.E. Mme. Tong Xiaoling, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, held on 24th February 2009 the Chinese New Year "Open House (Reception)" at her Residence. The celebration was joined by about 360 people including H.R.H. Pehin Dato Dr. Awang Haji Ahmad Jumat, Bruneian Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, H.E. Pehin Dato Haji Suyoi Osman, Bruneian Minister of Health, H.E. Pehin Dato Awang Haji Mohammad Daud, Minister of Energy at Bruneian Prime Minister's Office, H.E. Pehin Dato Major General Awang Haji Halbi Md Yussof, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, H.E. Dato Brigadier General Haji Mahmud Saidin, Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, H.E. Pehin Datu Zainuddin Jalani, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, and other high-level officials from Bruneian government and military, Bruneian Chinese communities, Brunei-China Friendship Association, diplomatic missions in Brunei Darussalam and Chinese enterprises, etc.

Ambassador Tong, during conversations with distinguished guests, expressed her appreciation to the Royal Family, Government and the general public of Brunei Darussalam for their incessant efforts to develop Brunei-China all-round friendly and cooperative relations. Speaking highly of China's remarkable achievements since the opening-up and reform policy, and of the rapid progress of Brunei-China friendly relations in the past year, the guests believed that the friendly relations between the two countries must see greater and further advance in the new year.
