Rear Admiral Su Zhiqian, Commander of the South Sea Fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, visited Brunei Darussalam and attended the 2nd Brunei International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX2009).

During the visit, Rear Admiral Su attended the opening ceremony and relevant events of BRIDEX2009, and paid a courtesy call to His Excellency Pehin Datu Singamanteri Kolonel (B) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Deputy Minister of Defence of Brunei Darussalam, and His Excellency Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). The Bruneian side expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude for China's sending a high-level military delegation, PLA Navy DDG "Guangzhou" and military industry enterprises to attend BRIDEX2009, and expected more cooperation and exchanges between the RBAF and PLA.

Her Excellency Mme. Tong Xiaoling, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, and Senior Colonel Zhang Yan, Defence Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, accompanied Rear Admiral Su's attendance at the abovementioned events.
