H.E. Ambassador Yu Hong Met Permanent Secretary of Bruneian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On February 5, 2020, H.E. Ambassador Yu Hong met with Honorable Hajah Dayang Siti Norishan binti Haji Awang Abdul Ghafor, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, and exchanged views on containing the current pneumonia outbreak caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Ambassador Yu introduced in detail the prevention and control measures taken by the Chinese government since the outbreak, and pointed out that the Chinese government has established a comprehensive national system of prevention and control and undertaken the measures in the most comprehensive and rigorous way. All the actions have been actively cooperated with the general public.The measures are turning out positive result. China has been dealing with the outbreak, in an open, transparent and responsible manner, working closely with the international community, sharing information about the epidemic and prevention and control measures with WHO and other parties in time. The efforts made by the Chinese government have won widespread support and appreciation from the international community. Because of all the efforts made by China, the spread to countries outside China has been limited effectively.

Permanent Secretary expressed the sympathy for the current severe situation in China, and spoke highly of the Chinese government's timely and efficient response to curb the epidemic and strong and resolute measures as well. She said Brunei has every confidence in China's final victory over the epidemic, and hopes that the patients will recover soon. Brunei is willing to strengthen cooperation with China, together with the joint efforts of international community to overcome the epidemic.
