Chinese Embassy in Brunei Held a Reception to Celebrate the 92nd Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army

On 22nd July 2019, Senior Colonel Wu Geng, the Defence Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei hosted a reception to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II of Brunei Darussalam was present as the guest of honour. H.E. Madam Yu Hong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei and the staff of the Chinese Embassy were also present. Over 260 guests from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, the Royal Brunei Police Force and government agencies, envoys and defence attachés from diplomatic missions, representatives from the Chinese community and Chinese institutions in Brunei attended the reception.

In his remarks, Senior Colonel Wu introduced the glorious journey of the PLA during the past 92 years, and highlighted PLA’s significant contribution to regional stability and world peace. Senior Colonel Wu also expressed appreciation to the cooperation between the PLA and the RBAF in the fields of high level visits, ship visits, multiateral joint exercises and personnel training, and wished the defence exchanges and cooperation between China and Brunei a new hight in the future.
