Chinese Embassy in Brunei Held a Reception to Mark the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army

On 24th July 2017, Defence Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei Senior Colonel Wu Geng hosted a reception in Bandar Seri Begawan to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). Fist Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Damit, Deputy Minister of Defence of Brunei Darussalam was present as the guest of honor. Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and over 280 guests from the RBAF, the Royal Brunei Police Force and government agencies, envoys and defence attachés from diplomatic missions, representatives from the Chinese community and Chinese institutions in Brunei also attended the reception. H.E. Yang Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei and the staff of the Chinese Embassy were present.

In his remarks, Senior Colonel Wu introduced the glorious journey of the PLA during the past 90 years, especially the PLA’s outstanding achievements of modernization since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Senior Colonel Wu highlighted the PLA’s significant contribution to regional stability and world peace, and China’s willingness to promote defence exchanges and cooperation with Brunei.
